Earlier this year, I facilitated a session with a group of fire protection practitioners using the Dreams and Disruptions Game, a participatory futures method developed by the Center for Engaged Foresight. As an Adjunct Faculty member of the Philippine Public Safety Academy, I have been bringing foresight games into professional development and learning spaces where it is rarely used — and fire protection, it turns out, is one of the most fertile grounds for this kind of work

Over the past five years, I've facilitated more than 250 sessions of this futures game across the globe—from classrooms to community centers, from youth workshops to corporate boardrooms. And in that time, I've witnessed something profound: when we create space for diverse voices to co-create alternative futures, we're not just planning for tomorrow—we're transforming who gets to shape it.

The game employs an innovative method integrating aspirational futures (dreams) and potential crises (disruptions).
