From Classroom to Global Stage: Dreams and Disruptions at World Futures Day

Our gratitude to Atty. Ferdinand S. Nicolas for including Dreams and Disruptions in his talk at World Futures Day. A core pillar of Northwestern University’s Futures Literacy approach is gamification, and this game sits at the heart of that practice. Thousands of students and young people across the country have played it, and it has been affirming to hear their sharp, thoughtful feedback.

Our thanks as well to Jezreel Larry Rivera Caunca, Karl Lenin C. Benigno, Liza Nicolas, Michelle Pastor Domingo and the NWU faculty for their support. Colleagues from across the world have also used the game, offering positive responses and valuable suggestions that continue to shape its evolution. Leading foresight organisations, including Toffler Associates, Institute for the Future, Dubai Future Foundation,as well as experts from national security, universities, corporates, NGOs, and science-based institutions, have used and featured the game.

Dreams and Disruptions continue to evolve. A Mandarin edition was launched this year. Watch out for new iterations and translations next year, including Rivers of Tomorrow (the Green Deck), the PROUT and Neo-Humanist Edition (the Orange Deck), and an upcoming Artificial General Intelligence edition (the Black Deck).

Gratitude as well to the UNESCO Social Science Community for helping create the space where futures literacy work like this can be shared, tested, and strengthened.
