The Center for Engaged Foresight, together with partners in the Futurists Circle, is proud to announce the release of the Mandarin Edition of the Dreams & Disruptions Game is now available in the Philippines. This milestone expands access to one of futures studies widely used foresight games for classrooms, communities, and policy labs.
The Dreams & Disruptions Mandarin Edition was officially launched in China in collaboration with the Futurists Circle, Future Shapers Academy, and the Center for Engaged Foresight (CEF) on December 8, 2025. Today, the game is available in Manila!
Built on years of practice with governments, universities, and civil society, the Mandarin Edition makes it easier for Mandarin-speaking facilitators and learners to imagine alternative futures, stress-test strategies, and surface transformative pathways—fully localized for language and cultural nuance while preserving the original mechanics and learning outcomes.
The Mandarin Edition has been play-tested with futurists and educators in Bangkok and refined through multiple Asian facilitation cycles to ensure clarity, cultural resonance, and ease of use. It includes the core archetype cards, driver/disruption prompts, and facilitation guides in Mandarin, plus quick-start scenarios suited for 90-minute workshops and deeper 3-hour studio formats.
Why this matters
Broader reach, deeper inclusion. The Mandarin Edition supports cross-border conversations across East and Southeast Asia, enabling mixed-language cohorts and regional policy dialogues to tap a shared foresight vocabulary.
Practice-ready. Designed for educators, policy teams, and civic innovators who need a structured, high-engagement process to surface diverse images of the future and convert them into actionable options.
Part of a living ecosystem. Dreams & Disruptions continues to evolve through field use across the Asia Pacific Futures Network, the Global South Futures Community, the Futurists Circle, universities, companies and local governments—where the game anchors collaborative, culturally grounded futures work.
Expanding Horizons: Climate Imagination in Asia
As part of the rollout and ongoing collaborations, the Futurists Circle is also co-hosting the event In Search of Hope-Full Futures: Fresh Climate Imaginations Through Games, Fiction & Dialogue during Bangkok Climate Action Week. This initiative explores how imagination can reshape climate narratives in Asia, moving beyond techno-apocalyptic framings toward new possibilities of hope and agency.
The program features a panel on Fiction, Imagination & Climate Agency (with online and offline participation) and a hands-on workshop, (Climate) Dreams & (Dynamic) Disruptions, where participants use the game to prototype alternative climate futures. The event—organised with Seapunk Studios and WildBound—takes place on October 1, 2025 at SEA Junction, BACC (Bangkok).
Looking Forward
From the celebratory launch of the Mandarin Edition in China to its role in the Bangkok Climate Action Week workshops, Dreams & Disruptions continues to expand as both a game and a global foresight movement. With the support of the Futurists Circle, Future Shapers Academy, and the Center for Engaged Foresight, the game is no longer just a tool but a catalyst—reshaping how communities, educators, and policy-makers imagine, debate, and design futures together.
As new editions and collaborations emerge, each milestone reinforces a simple truth: when diverse voices come together through play, dialogue, and imagination, we not only make history—we also make the future.
